Soul Stealer, Anna Hackett (Guest Post/Giveaway/Review)

Who Else Wants More Action With Their Romance?

Action and romance usually conjures up images of Michael Douglas swinging through the Colombian jungle with Kathleen Turner in Romancing the Stone. The movie was a surprise success the year it came out. Did you know Sylvester Stallone was the first pick to play Jack Colton? Hmm, not sure that would have worked.

In my movies and my books, I LOVE some action and adventure blended with my romance. I know the ladies here at Bookswagger love some fast-paced romance as well! I like my reading fast and furious with lots of action-packed circumstances to test the hero and heroine.  No surprise that it’s also what I like to write.

The books that land in my Kindle TBR pile are often romantic suspense, paranormal and sci-fi romance. I’ll take a werewolf, space pirate or Navy SEAL over a millionaire, lawyer or small-town doctor any day!

When I read, I’m looking for an escape from my everyday life, a few moments of heart-pounding excitement, so I guess that’s why I love some action with my romance. I want to be swept up in the adventure.

The same is true when I sit down to write my own romantic adventures. My latest release, SOUL STEALER, is a whole lot of action combined with some hot romance and a little dash of X-Men. I have time thieves, mind raiders and soul stealers all battling the bad guys. But it’s also about a wounded heroine addicted to killing and the smart, sexy doctor who wants to help her. For all the action, I must always have a happy ending!

So, anyone else love their romance combined with action? If you had a choice, who would you pick: the werewolf, the space pirate, the Navy SEAL, the millionaire businessman, lawyer or small-town doctor?

Anna Hackett loves action movies, sci-fi shows, short stories, writing her own romantic adventures, her wonderful husband and her little man. You can find her at the usual places: Anna HackettWebsite | Blog | Facebook | Twitter | Goodreads. Her latest novella, SOUL STEALER, is out now.

Giveaway: $25 Amazon GC and 3 Carina Press books of the winner’s choice, this week only.

Soul Stealer Blurb

She just wants her life back. After being kidnapped and forced to kill by a vicious crime lord, Cate Hartmann is now a killer with an addiction to stealing souls. On the island sanctuary of Haven, surrounded by other anomalies with secret abilities, she fights to recover. But only one man calms the dark storm inside and makes her believe she can be whole again…Dr. Gage Walker.

Scientist Gage Walker has spent a decade helping anomalies. But every day, he’s haunted by his previous job for the CIA—where he crossed far too many boundaries and hurt so many anomalies. Including his brother. He vows he won’t fail again and will do everything he can to heal Cate—including fighting his attraction to her.

But when the crime lord comes after Cate again, it’s a race against time to find out why he wants her. Amidst the danger, Gage and Cate drawn to each other, even as they fear that one wrong step will send her hurtling back into the depths of her soul stealing addiction.

Bookswagger Marcia: Four Crowns, good read, on the way to swagger. The Anomaly Series is back and the action is nonstop. I enjoyed reading Cate and Gage’s story, they were a great fit. Cate was dealing with some heavy issues as a side effect of being captured by ubber douche Levan and Gage was the perfect guy to help her deal with it. His analytical mind and background was perfect. This would not be classified as a full length novel but you could not tell! Soul Stealer goes from zero to sixty, the bad guys are caught, and you get a love story and a surprise ending. I mean if you can make me feel sorry for a villain I have hated for three books and have me wanting him to live another day and even have his own book, you have done the impossible because that is a rare thing for me. Usually I like me villains dead with my hero/heroine on the way to their happily ever after.

Side note, I loved Gage! I like the smart nerds who know how to handle themselves. There is nothing like an assertive brain who knows how to take control!
