Consume Me (Ravage MC, 3), Ryan Michele
Blaze new name fits, she is much better than the person she used to be. She does not date, although probably not what you would expect from a stripper in a MC controlled exotic dance club. Blaze just know with men comes trouble and sometimes, the I don’t date rule is better than any relief a man could potentially provide.
Tug a prospect in the Ravage Motorcycle Club, knows what he wants and it is Blaze. He wants more than the casual hook up, or quick toss he can easily obtain from the club W (woooo, you thought I was going to say it). He finds in Blaze someone he wants to get to know, despite the secrets he is sure she has.
Bookswagger Marcia: Four Crowns, good read, on the way to swagger. I love this series, this is book three and it follows the expectations I have regarding Ryan Michele’s heroine. No matter their background or the things they have been through in life or how soft they appear, they have a backbone of steel that proves the right man can make bend. Blaze is no different. She is used to being on her own and protecting herself. Watching her date Tug an alpha man who likes to take care of and be there for the women in his life was sweet. She has to get used to letting someone else watch her back and boy does the sparks fly!
Straight to the Swagger: Heroine who I never thought I would like has me on her team and a hero who values the good things in life, like the woman he knows is for him and is not afraid to do a few dirty deeds.
The Sweetest Taboo: An Unconventional Romance, Harper Miller
Micah Foster is submissive, she knows what she wants and it is a dominant man. Now finding that man…
Dom Rick Thomas meets Micah at Spanxx the local fetish club but before he can get to know her as a Dom he is in doctor mode helping her through dire circumstances in the real world, beyond the anonymity of Spanxxx.
Micah thought she did not want to get to know Dom Rick Thomas better, but Dr. Thomas proved to be the Dom she needed to make her want a serious relationship.
These two deal with real issues while coming to terms with what they want and need from each other.
Bookswagger Marcia: Four Crowns, good read, on the way to swagger. Okay, I like Micha, she was not damaged, raised by two sane parents who we got to meet. I mean if I had to read another BDSM book where the heroine has turned to bdsm because of some childhood or teen dating drama. Dag I know we need black moments in these reads but let’s dig a little deeper. So I was like OMG she is AA, has herself together this is going to be good and it was. The relationship was intimate, very little club scening most of the xxx scenes took place in the bedroom or home playroom. Micah and Rick relationship progressed how I would expect one of my good, good girlfriends relationships to progress, if she were oh so lucky, as to meet a hot dominating doctor but I doubt they grow on trees, at least not in North Carolina.
Now a few things were a little jarring like the summer of 2009, beginning flash back and the heroine referring to herself in lowercase i. I get the “i”, I have seen it before in bdsm books, the sub refers to herself in lowercase and the 2009 stuff really was not necessary, just read on you will get to the good stuff it was just a few pages.
Straight to the Swagger: It is so hard to find a heroine with all of her right mind, you will find it in this read. The Sweetest Taboo is all about a couple getting to know each other and hot XXX.
Saving Sam, Megan Slayer
I love stories about friends who had a thing for each other and never acted on it, friends who come back together and bam. This is one of those stories. Sam Grau the nerd had a thing for his best friend Josh Thomas in college and Josh knew it. Josh left, he had to go out and live but now he is back to Save Sams and be with the only man who ever understood him. So he is coming to Zero, Ohio.
Bookswagger Marcia: Three Crowns, swagger jacked, decent read. This is a short read and I pulled for Sam all the way, not sure I liked Josh. I mean, I was squarely in Sam camp, screaming how dare you leave my friend then think you can just walk back in and pick up where you left off, no wonder he has trust issues…Douche. But I have learned you have to let friends make their own choices, so yes Sam choose Josh who said he did not regret leaving, it was best for him and all I was thinking, but you could have called, but I digress. This was a good quick read, the two already knew each other and they jumped into the relationship day one and were dealing with their past hang-ups. Sometimes it was hard for me to keep up with who was talking and there were a few jarring transitions but overall a decent read.
Blind Date with a Bear, Marie Mason
It is years after the great reveal although Paige Matthews has never dated a shifter she is aware they mate for life and she can’t be Quinn Blackwood’s mate so she is aware it is all fun and games so she might as well relax for once and just enjoy herself. Right? Quinn agrees to go on a blind date with his sister’s co worker to get her off his back. She thinks she can match mates because she got it right one time. He agrees to the date never expecting to meet his mate, he is still in his prime after all. His mate is human and he wants to take it slow, the last thing he wants to do is scare her off by jumping on her like an animal.
Bookswagger Marcia: Three Crowns, swagger jacked, decent read. Okay, this was an okay read (bears repeating hehe), I am really into bear shifters right now and would like more, more and more. I like the idea of this read but the plot was moved along by something that could have been cleared up by a conversation. The heroine doubted the hero was in to her because he did not get a haze of lust and jump on her like she heard bears did when they found their mates so cue the doubt. He loves me, he loves me not. I did like the author created world where shifters had careers, a ruling council and all that jazz. I like my shifters living and working in the real world makes it a little more realistic. Plus humans should not be the only ones suffering.
Straight to the Swagger: Quinn and Paige it was an okay read, if you looking for something quick to read with some bears and a little angst from the supporting characters this will get you through.
Talkin’ Sexy, Yvette Hines
Ka’Lee the responsible one, the play it safe and do the right thing one is in need of a change. Her siblings are marrying off much to her traditional parents delight, while she is aging right along with the senior citizens she offer relationship counseling to. An opportunity to use her sex counseling background to land a new job on Landon Kane’s station as a sex expert is just what she needs to shake up her life.
Landon needs a sex expert; he needs one with the credentials to make his show legit. He needs Ka’Lee, he wants Ka’ Lee. He makes it his personal mission to show her the delights of putting her knowledge into practice. Anything for the sake of the show and the company he built out of nothing, wanting her has nothing to do with it.
Bookswagger Marcia: Four Crowns, good read, on the way to swagger. This was a good one. I knew going in about Ka’Lee’s lack of knowledge and knew this turned some of my fellow readers off. I was expecting to not like it as well. I do not know if it was a case of forewarned forearmed but I enjoyed that aspect of the book and it was kind of realistic. I know so many friends graduating with degrees but without the actually real world experience to back up their book knowledge it was not too far-fetched for me.
Ka’ Lee is a practical girl who is all about the good of the family, she sacrificed a lot in the name of family and missed out on some things normal college age kids would have experienced. I am happy she did because Landon was the one to teach her making for some interesting conversation and tricks. Do not get me wrong she is not a “V” so she knows a little something, something but it was nice. Talkin’ Sexy had some meat to it, the story was not just about sex. We are treated to funny dialogue and playful love scenes making Ka’Lee and Landon falling for each other realistic.
Straight to the Swagger: Cute interracial, multicultural read although they are talking sex, we have plot and dialogue people.
Michelle is heading to the mountains during a snow storm, not her best idea but she just wants some time alone in her own head after losing her best-friend and cheating fiance to each other. Unfortunately she never makes it to her oasis of serenity. She is rescued by off duty fireman Jason. He saves her from a horrible situation and they have to survive the harsh winter storm in the elements, the dire situation leads them to depend on each other and discover how much they might just mean to each other.
Bookswagger Marcia: Three Crowns, swagger jacked, decent read. The word count on this is 25,000 and I think I would have enjoyed this story more in print. For such a short read there was a lot of action. But the narrator was dying, I think ( no shade, lol). The story was cute and you do have to suspend belief a little and I am never one to quibble over that. I am reading fiction but if a couple falling in love, the hero going alpha while gazing at the heroine longingly in his alpha cave than ravishing her. Followed by bursting into her home to protect her because he knows she is his bothers you than this is not the one for you my friends.
Straight to the Swagger: The narrator, mmmhh not so much but I checked the price. Even though my copy was free (stop it, stop it) they are charging according to the product. Sooooo I am not mad, but the print copy is .99. If you are like me sometimes you just need that short audio book at a decent price though.
