Wolf’s Haven (Caedmon Wolves), Ambrielle Kirk (Black Friday Blog Hop)

Tamara is on the run from her boyfriend, she finally finds a way to escape him during a robbery. Hurt and on the run, her only companion a large wolf with green eyes. Upon awaking, instead of a wolf she finds his owner Devin with the same gorgeous green eyes. Devin’s father has passed and now the pack wants him to assume his role as alpha. Responsibility for a pack his father kicked him out of for being a bastard is not something he wants to assume. He would rather stay in his cabin with the woman who is driving his wolf to mate.

Bookswagger Marcia: Three Crowns, swagger jacked, decent read. The story was enjoyable and I did like the shifter world created, I just found it to not be as fulfilling as I would have liked. I was drawn into this story from the very beginning, I wanted to know how the heroine Tamara would get out of her extremely difficult situation and then when she is introduced to the shifter world, I clutched my kindle waiting for fireworks. I think the word count held this story back, I just felt there were so many details were I was giving a tidbit or hooked but then let down because it was not explored further. Hopefully the series will continue to expand upon the Caedmon wolf world.

Bookswagger Danielle: Four Crowns, good read, on the way to swagger. I really enjoyed this book, my main problem was it wasn’t long enough. Normally this wouldn’t be a problem, I wanted more and found myself double and triple checking to make sure there really wasn’t anymore to read. The author gave just enough to get me hooked and make me want to know about the characters future. Tamara was an intriguing character and not one I would think I’d go for. On the surface when I think of an abused woman I think of someone who doesn’t have a strong sense of self and I like my heroine to be kick ass chicks. Surprising Tamara had me revising my opinion and I was definitely a fan.  Devin was exactly what I liked in a hero, strong, and he proved it multiple times in the story without being obnoxious. I’m looking forward to more from this author, I was impressed.

Wolfishly Yours, Lydia Dare (Review)

Wolfishly Yours,  Lydia Dare

Grayson Hadley cannot believe Liviana Mayeux, she is a hoyden. She talks about wolves in public, she says things women never mention and drives him crazy. She causes him to do things he knows one would never do in polite society and she is the only one who would accuse him of being tame.

Louisiana’s Miss Liviana Mayeux is sent to London against her will to gain culture by her alpha, who is also her father. Liviana has no desire to be in London and she believes the wolves there are beyond tame. She meets Grayson Hadley a well mannered wolf being forced to take gentleman lessons by his alpha.

Bookswagger Marcia: Two Crowns, no Swagger, hard read. I enjoy reading regency romances with paranormal characters. This story did fall a bit flat for me but readers of the series may enjoy peeking in on their favorite characters and getting the scoop on what’s coming next. There was a lot of talking about how the heroine Liviana and Grayson would create a scandal but not much action. I do not believe all shifter males have to be alphas, I do like the lighter side of romance, this one just lacked that magical story. Although the cast was interesting and the Louisiana Mayeux are a family I would be interested in getting to know.

Bookswagger Danielle: Two Crowns, no Swagger, hard read. I liked Livi and her tomboy ways, the scene where she cussed priceless. I must admit this book left me confused, there was way more talk about being a wolf than any shifting. I found myself waiting for a moment when surely the characters would shift, but it never happened. What really brought this book down for me were the men characters. I like my mean hot and strong, I totally expected this book to bring it and it sadly didn’t. Don’t get me wrong Grayson and his brothers were funny and charming. What made them appear weak were their fear of Dare. I understand and respect a healthy dose of fear of the alpha but this went too far for my taste. What did you think of the male characters and which one would catch your eye?

T and A, Tempest and Accepting the Dragon (Review)

Tempest by Dahlia Rose

Tempest a Louisiana bayou native with the sight has spent her life alone, persecuted by the small town of Cormina Parish. Viewed as a witch because of her gift Tempest is more comfortable living on the outskirts of town. A vision of wolf shifters Alex Wakefield and Dominic Cross the newest residents of Cormina Parish show her as their mate. Tempest confronts the vision head on by taking the information to the two shifters because her visions never lie.

Bookswagger Marcia: Three Crowns, swagger jacked, decent read. Tempest was an interesting read containing an interracial ménage. I have read many books by Dahlia and enjoy her take on IR stories especially her military romances. Dahlia has done ménages before but this one was longer than I expected something I hope to see more. The story had a plot with backstory and the book was nice but a little lower on the heat scale. I am used to a blazing intensity between the heroine and hero with a very dominant male from her. The story said the men were dominant and they did put Bubba in his place and checked the posse, I just didn’t feel it.

IR ménages are a rare breed. Dahlia is one of the authors that deliver these stories. I know followers are going to pick this up because that is what we do and what I did. The ending is a little abrupt so I hope it is a continuation of a series. I am not sure why I did not love this story. I really wanted to. I would love to hear from other readers who have read Tempest.

Accepting the Dragon (Year of the Dragon) by Reana Malori

Sheila Graves has worked for Takashi Nakashima for five years fighting her attraction for CEO Takashi the entire time. Upon arriving unannounced at his home for a last minute deal she discovers more than she bargains for. Sheila finally meets the dragon and he wants his mate. Takashi Nakashima no longer cares about how his family or the uptight organization he belongs to will take it.

Bookswagger Marcia: Three Crowns, swagger jacked, decent read. This was a refreshing short story, fully developed. I wish it were longer. I would have liked to see them struggle, Takashi fight more for his mate acceptance with his family and the organization although I know that would require a larger word count. Sheila and Takashi knew each other for years so them falling into bed with each other the night of dragon discovery was not unexpected. Sheila handled the dragon details well, willing to accept anything that was part of the man she loved. This story had a lot going on to be so short.  Accepting the Dragon is a good one to sneak in between duties on the job.

Coveted, A lot of OCD by Shawntelle Madison (Review)

Coveted is the first in the series by Shawntelle Madison. Natalya Stravinsky a werewolf suffering from OCD is an outcast and barely tolerated by her pack. Between lusting after her ex-boyfriend, the new guy she met in therapy and trying to avoid becoming a victim in the turf war between the Long Island werewolves and the pack that exiled, Natalya is a busy wolf. Natalya is embraced by her eccentric friend Aggie her grandmother but a rogue wolf doesn’t stand a chance in a turf war. Natalya has to come to terms with her place in or outside of the pack with her ex back the current alpha and being the low wolf on the totem pole. Will she stand and fight or will she turn her back on the pack and ultimately her family just as they did to her?

Bookswagger Marcia: Three crowns. The book was different. I enjoyed the concept of a female rogue werewolf and one with OCD at that! When I read the synopsis I knew this was one I had to read. This is urban fiction so I know romance is not expected but the blurb did lead me to expect more than I received although I am sure that was just me. I enjoyed all the characters especially Natalya Stravinsky’s sidekick Aggie. She had an overeating problem which we do not see with wolves. Unfortunately there were items in the book keeping me from rating the book a four. The action scenes were not very clear I read them but I cannot tell you how they went down. There are some scenes where old magic saved the day in but I cannot tell you how.

The one thing that really got me though is Natalya OCD spiraled out of control when the pack leader son Thorn left. Now he is back as pack leader and he just walks in says hi no, I believe it was “hey you” and everything is ok. You are back on team Thorn. No discussion, no cold shoulder nothing. I will be reading the next book Kept, because there has to be something more, she has to react to how he dissed her right?
